HOW
TO IMPROVE YOUR LIFE USING GOD Add Balance, Gain Direction & Support
Welcome to How To Improve Your
Life Using God. This helpful "quick start guide" can be
read in less than two minutes.
Life sometimes feels off
track. It's hard to find
satisfaction and happiness.
Feeling good about life comes through balance. People find
happiness when they balance these important areas of their
lives:
Physical Mental Social
Spiritual
We're all pretty good at taking care of the first three (our
Physical, Mental and Social well-being.) What usually gets
neglected is our Spiritual
side.
Having a relationship with God provides direction, support and
purpose. If you would like to know God, pray this prayer
right
now:
"God the Father, thank you for
sending your son Jesus to die
for my sins. I accept his love and forgiveness. I ask him
to
come into my life."
By praying this prayer, you have just welcomed God into your
life. All of your sins are now
forgiven. You now have
eternal life as promised by Jesus Christ. Why?
Because God loved people so much he sent is son to die for our
sins. By accepting Christ you
remove the sin that blocks God from
being in your life.
The next step is to
pull out the local yellow pages. Do
this now. Check the phone book listings under
"Churches."
Look for a nearby Christian church that reaches out to new people
(maybe one with a big phone book ad.) You've probably noticed a
big church in town with lots of cars in the parking lot (there's good
reason for that!) Call that
church right now. Ask to speak
with the the pastor or a minister. If they're not available, just
talk with the person who answered the phone. Tell them that you
just
prayed to invite God into your life. Ask if you can arrange a time
today or tomorrow to come in and learn more about God.
That's all there is to it. God wants to be part of our
lives. All you need to do is is invite him.

HOW
TO FIND A CHURCH
You have now prayed the most important prayer of your
life. God is now in your heart and you have entrance to
heaven. However, the world is a difficult place.
It's important to have the support of
other people who also believe in
God.
Speaking with a minister immediately (as recommended above)
gives
you a better understanding of God's power to help your life.
However, the first church you call
may not be the one you decide to
join. Check around. Find a local church where you
are
comfortable. Remember that no
church is perfect. Churches are filled with ordinary,
imperfect people. Ask others if they can
recommend a good local church. Every community has one
or two "popular" churches.
They're popular for a reason.
Good churches have parking problems. Good churches sing with
energy (and
sometimes too loudly.) Good churches talk about what's ahead (not
what has
happened in the past.) Good churches have big ads in the phone
book or
newspaper. Good churches reach out to their communities and make
new
people feel welcome.
To find a good church, plan to
visit a half dozen churches that
come recommended to you. Choose the one that best "feels right"
to you. Attend that church regularly and become active in a small
group (bible study, choir, etc.) After six months if you
feel
good about the church, join it. If you don't, explore additional
churches.
SPIRITUAL
"OWNER'S MANUAL"
Beyond prayer, God communicates with us through the Bible.
Pick up a contemporary version of the
Bible at church or a
bookstore. Ask for a modern, plain English version (the old King
James Version can be difficult.)

ABOUT
THE AUTHOR
I'm a web master with several web sites developed from
my personal interests. It occurred to me that I didn't have
anything online about the most meaningful thing in my life... my
relationship with God.
As you can tell, this site isn't heavy on theology (or even
religious denomination.) It's simply a signpost I can offer to my
web guests. I believe in the constructive power God has to change
lives. He's helped me. I hope you can use the simple advice
offered here to change your life.
